Question:
Is it good for the engine to be cold started from that angle. All engine oil must be at the front, and I suppose that it will take a while before it gets around in that temp.

Good point, but it's Lada. For all we know, that could be the recommended starting position.

It wasn't quite this extreme, but I had a friend in high school who would always park his Grand Cherokee with 2 or 3 wheels on a snowbank. Most people thought he was being an ass for some reason, but I thought it was pretty cool.

I think the Lada Niva is lubricated not by oil, but by the broken dreams of Western capitalists and unbridled love for the Motherland.

When I lived up north, me my friends would see who could drive up the snow plow piles. There was one the was huge, like taller than my 4Runner is long. I won, but I almost got stuck because my hitch got caught on the pavement. Nothing was broken, so I consider that a win. Or I'm just the only one stupid enough to drive up something that unstable and steep.
